BİRİNCİ DÜNYA SAVAŞI YILLARINDA GİRESUN – GİRESUN DURING THE YEARS OF WORLD WAR I

Birinci Dünya Savaşı sırasında Trabzon Vilayeti’nin Rize ve Artvin ve merkez sancakları Rus işgaline uğramış, işgalin batı sınırı Harşit Deresi olmuştur.  Harşit Deresi’nin batısında konuşlanan Türk ordusunun askeri ve lojistik ihtiyaçları, işgale uğramayan Giresun ve  Ordu kazaları üzerinden gerçekleşmiştir. Öte yandan Erzurum’un işgalinden sonra batıya doğru başlayan göç dalgasına Trabzon’un işgale uğrayan bölgelerinin ahalisi de eklenmiş, Ordu kazasında bulunan Vilayet yönetimi aynı zamanda muhacirlerin iskan ve iaşeleriyle de uğraşmıştır. Bu makalede, Rus ordusunun Giresun kazası ve kıyılarını bombalaması ve bunun yarattığı sonuçlar ele alınarak değerlendirilmiştir.

 ABSTRACT

During the World War I, Rize, Artvin and central districts of Trabzon Province were invaded by the Russians, and Harşit Stream became the western border of this invasion. The military and logistic needs of the Turkish army, which was deployed on the West of Harşit Stream, were fulfilled from uninvaded Giresun and Ordu districts. In addition, with the participation of the people fleeing from the invaded districts of Trabzon to a westward migration wave that had started after the invasion of Erzurum, a massive refugee population came to this region, obliging the Provincial administration of Ordu district to deal with the settlement and catering of these refugees. This study aims at evaluating the bombardment of Giresun district and its shores by the Russian army, and analyzing the consequences of this bombardment.
